Hello! I’m Matthew, an enthusiastic Physiotherapist dedicated to helping you maintain an active lifestyle and overcome injuries.
I hold a BSc in Sports Science and a Masters in Physiotherapy, combining academic knowledge with years of clinical experience. My commitment to professional excellence is reflected in my memberships with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). These affiliations ensure that my care is safe, regulated, and grounded in the latest evidence-based research.
Over the years, I’ve worked across a wide range of physiotherapy settings — from professional sport to private and NHS practice. My background includes senior physiotherapy roles with football clubs such as QPR FC and Ipswich Town FC, as well as providing Physiotherapy to an Ultra High Net Worth Individual (UHNWI) while travelling across Europe. This diverse experience has enriched my professional approach, allowing me to deliver expert care in a variety of settings.
In addition to my private practice at Whitson Wellness Physiotherapy, I have held senior roles within the NHS as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP). This position allowed me to work closely with Orthopaedic consultants and other medical professionals, further enhancing my expertise in complex musculoskeletal conditions and patient management.
I specialise in treating peripheral joint injuries (upper and lower limb conditions) and spinal problems, with a particular interest in sports injuries, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation. My approach is holistic, focusing not only on recovery but also on long-term health, strength, and well-being.
Ongoing learning is a key part of my practice. I regularly attend CPD courses and training events to ensure I’m providing the most effective, evidence-based physiotherapy treatments available.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young family and staying active. I’ve developed a real passion for running — completing the Brighton Marathon 2025 was a huge milestone, and I hope to take on a few more marathons in the coming years! Running has given me valuable insight into the physical and mental demands of endurance training, which I bring into my work supporting athletes and active individuals of all levels.
